Sunny Day Activities in Hervey Bay

The obvious thing to do as far as sunny day activities go is to take a swim or picnic at one of Hervey Bays beaches. The beach runs continuously from Pialba at the Western end of the Charlton Esplanade to the East at Urangan.

Safe swimming is available anywhere along this stretch of beach. Of course the recommended place to swim is between the Life Guard Flags in front of the Surf Club at Torquay.

Take a drive to one of the outlying beaches at Burrum Heads, Toogoom or Dundowran and just enjoy the peace and quiet away from the maddening crowds. Not that crowds are a feature of Hervey Bay Beaches - just the opposite.

If you prefer fresh water swimming, then head to Boundary Road. Here you will find the Hervey Bay Aquatic Centre . This is a modern swimming facility that caters for all grades and age of swimmer. The cost is low and the surroundings landscaped. The children will love it.

Head out along the Maryborough-Hervey Bay Highway from Eli Waters and try out the Go Karts and Hydroslide. This is a great activity for the whole family.

Next door there is a Golf Driving Range. I have not tried this range out but no doubt it is as good as any if you’ve got a need to drive a few balls into the great blue yonder. There are a number of Golf courses in the region. The Hervey Bay Golf Club is an 18-hole championship course, with a recently upgraded clubhouse that is open seven days.

Stroll along the Urangan Pier at the Eastern end of the Charlton Esplanade to enjoy a cool sea breeze and chat to the numerous children and adults fishing along its length.

Why not visit one of the local fishing supply stores and purchase a cheap rod and reel, that’s if you don’t have one yourself, drop a line over the side and try your luck. This is great fun and very relaxing. There will be plenty of help if you are new to fishing.

Of course fishing is not restricted to the Pier. Hervey Bay is a fisherman paradise.

Maybe you want a bit more action and competition, if this is what you’re after, the Hervey Bay Tennis club as several excellent courts available for hire most days and times. The Tennis club is situated within the multi-sports ground complex situated 79 Colyton St, Torquay.
